Rest. Restoration. Renewal.
Caring for a loved one with disabilities is one of the most demanding forms of love. The Mill Neck Respite Program provides families with the temporary, professional support they need to rest and recover — knowing their loved one is in capable, ASL-fluent hands.
Designed for caregivers — and the people they care for.
Respite gives unpaid family caregivers a planned break from the constant work of providing care. For the person being cared for, respite is also a meaningful opportunity — to engage with new people, try new activities, build independence, and experience time in fully ASL-accessible programming with peers.
Mill Neck Respite serves Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities. Whether you need a few hours, an evening, a weekend, or a longer break, we work with families to design a respite plan that meets their needs.

- Group Respite Events
Periodic group respite events bringing multiple participants together for a fun, engaging experience while caregivers rest.
How to access respite.
Mill Neck Respite is OPWDD-funded for individuals with developmental disabilities who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing. Authorization comes through OPWDD's Care Coordination process — typically through your Care Coordinator (CCO).
If you don't yet have OPWDD services or a Care Coordinator, we can help you understand the Front Door intake process and connect you with the right starting point.
Let us help you get a real break.
Whether you are a family caregiver, a Care Coordinator, or a partner agency referring an individual for respite — we welcome your call.
